X-type 2004 2 litre diesel estate 84K miles - fine until last six months when black smoke appeared on accelerating - jaguar garage replaced air and fuel filter (£156!) even though air filter was only six months old - blamed volcanic ash and then bad diesel fuel !Did not solve problem and taken back in today and now suggest that the Exhaust Gas Recirculating Valve should be replaced at a
